The call for papers is usually circulated in the autumn, with the deadline for abstract submissions in January. The annual conference falls on the last week of June \/ first week of July.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Each year, we also host <a href=\"https:\/\/community-languages.org.uk\/scs\/annual-scs-conference\/11th-annual-postgraduate-conference\/\"><strong>a postgraduate conference<\/strong><\/a> to showcase upcoming work from postgraduate students. This is often many students first conference, and a great opportunity to practice ahead of the annual conference.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">Highlights of the annual conference include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">multi-disciplinary panels presenting the latest research on the Caribbean and its diasporas<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">keynote lecture by eminent scholars in the field<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">plenary sessions on subjects of topical interest<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">presentation by a Caribbean arts practitioner (winner of the Bridget Jones Award)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">rum punch reception and conference dinners<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">The 2020, 2021 and 2022 conferences were moved to an online format due to the coronavirus pandemic.
