Hillhouse and Ubaldimir Guerra<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b><i>Joanne C. Hillhouse<\/i><\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Joanne C. Hillhouse is a writer from Ottos, Antigua-Barbuda. She was named the Anthony N. Sabga Awards for Caribbean Excellence arts and letters laureate in 2023 and is currently (in 2024) serving as Intersect Antigua-Barbuda\u2019s inaugural Artist-in-Residence. Her fictional publications include children\u2019s picture books (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With Grace<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lost! A Caribbean Sea Adventure<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Jungle Outside<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To be a Cheetah<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), a coming of age novella (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Boy from Willow Bend<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), a teen\/young adult novel (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Musical Youth<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), and adult contemporary books (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dancing Nude in the Moonlight<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oh Gad!<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). Her fiction has also been published in journals like <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Moko: Caribbean Arts and Letters<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Caribbean Writer<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Adda<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BIM: Arts for the 21st Century<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, among others, and anthologies like <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New Daughters of Africa<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and its abridged German language edition <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Neue Tochter Afrikas<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pepperpot: Best New Stories of the Caribbean<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For Women: In Tribute to Nina Simone<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, among others. A Lit Hub article named her in 2018 as one of \u201910 Female Caribbean Authors You Should Know (And Add To Your American Lit Syllabus)\u2019. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Belize and Master of Arts degree in English with a concentration in Multicultural and Transnational Literature from East Carolina University. He works as a full-time lecturer of English and literature at the University of Belize. His poetry appears in the anthology Bookmarked: PREE New Caribbean Writing, PREE: Caribbean Writing, BIM: Arts for the 21st Century, Interviewing the Caribbean, Apalachee Review, Obsidian and Bent Pin Press. Ubaldimir was shortlisted for the Bocas Emerging Writers Fellowship in 2022, long listed for the Bocas Breakthrough Fellowships 2023\/24 and won the Poetry Archive Now Wordview 2022.
