This is open to a<span style=\"font-size: 1.125rem;\">rts researchers or practitioners living and working in the Caribbean. The winner of the award will present their work at the 49th Society for Caribbean Studies Annual Conference, which is scheduled to be held <\/span><strong style=\"font-size: 1.125rem;\">online, 1-4 July 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To find out more about this award, as well as previous recipients, please see <a href=\"https:\/\/community-languages.org.uk\/scs\/bursaries-and-prizes\/bridget-jones-award\/\">here<\/a>. As the conference is online this year, the committee will consider making up to three awards of \u00a3200 each.<\/p>\n<p>Applications are especially welcome from individuals with no institutional affiliations. We encourage applications from across the arts: from visual artists, performers, creative writers, film-makers, folklorists, playwrights etc.<\/p>\n<h5>How To Apply<\/h5>\n<p>To apply for the Award you must submit the following:<\/p>\n<p>*\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 a cover letter<br \/>\n*\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 a\u00a0curriculum vitae (no more than 4 pages)<\/p>\n<p>AND either<br \/>\n*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (a) a proposal for a presentation of your work in the areas of film, literature, visual or performing arts<br \/>\nor<br \/>\n*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (b) a proposal for a reading of original creative work.<\/p>\n<p>Presentations will be delivered in English. Presentations normally last for up to one hour, including time for questions from the audience. The most important part of your application will therefore be a full description of the proposed presentation detailing the themes, rationale behind the presentation, as well as how the presentation will be organised and any support\/props required (e.g. if intending to screen clips of films; show slides of artwork; incorporate live performance etc).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>Applications and enquiries should be sent by e-mail to\u00a0<a id=\"m_8805342428721519620OWA8a89d55f-015c-c29b-b026-672085e685f1\" href=\"mailto:societyforcaribbeanstudies@gmail.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">societyforcaribbeanstudies@<wbr \/>gmail.com<\/a>, for the attention of the Bridget Jones Committee.<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Completed applications must be received by <strong>18 March 2026<\/strong>.
